Tropical Storm Washi was a giant cyclone storm that caused flooding and mud slides in the Philippines late 2011. It started in the North Pacific Ocean with maximum winds around 65 miles per hour December 13, 2011. On December 15, the storm hit Mindanao, Philippines with heavy rains and strong winds. December 16-17, Tropical Storm Washi hit the Philippino island of Paiwan. The amount of rain caused massive flooding and mudslides, and the mountainous region caused more damage because of the angle the rain hit the land and the speed the rain had landed. This also affected the amount of damage the mud slides caused.
